2024 Senior Show
Environmental & Marketing Lead

-
“Navigation” was my BFA Graphic Design Senior Show that culminated my cohorts and I work during our time in program as California State University Long Beach. With its course running two days, we reached an attendance of 600 guests that included staff, faculty, student, and industry experts. As the environmental lead, I was responsible for curating the surroundings of our exhibit while maintaining the brand identity. My focus was to create an immersive and interactive event for guest to follow and participate.
While creating a navigation flow, I brainstorm, developed, and built installations that adhere to the manifesto and brand identity of our show. My work includes the fortune teller ceiling installation, the signage post installation, fortune teller making station, and “And beyond it goes” floor piece.

Developing the pieces to the show was an exciting process because it stemmed outside our regular design programs. We had to problem solve with every situation since life doesnt have a command “z”. The key to creating my pieces was research. Before beginning to build, I thoroughly investigated ways to commorate and reflect our time in the program. Figma’s Figjam was my bestfriend because it held all my brainstorm and allowed me to put all my train of thought into it. Building the pieces consisted of understanding material, dimensionality, and working with gallery representatives with install our pieces
Creating my booth was a personal dilemma. I had an intital skeleton but I didn’t think it truly reflected who I was as a designer. Instead of planning a new idea, I decided to let my subconsious mind do the work. When it was time to set up, I felt like a painter with a blank canvas, only being held by the easel of my thought. I tried different foramation until I ultimalety felt I had perfected my booth

The progress of creating the show was a time I would never forget. From getting staying long nights at school, to hot glue burns, to having stained blue hands on openning day; its a process I would forever hold deeply in my heart. I really learned about taking in the world and making it out own.

Ann Demeulemeester Retail Space

Retail Space Development
Class Project, 2023
-
The Ann Demeulemeester Retail Space is a reflection of the brand and a boxset I created. Consisting of the book and iconic feather necklaces, the retail space would reflect the boxset packaging and would serve as a way for customers to get first looks into the content and would have the opportunuty for purchase. The retail space would be located in a isolatied area, only locatatble by true fans. Upon entry, the customer would be present with a maze-like hallway with a black line following the floor, serving as a direction guide. As the customer is led, they are presented with different phases of the box and are ultimatly led into the main room which features the box set as a whole and Ann Demeuleemester memorabilia.
For the retail space, I wanted it to be a pop-up to emphasize the box seto be cohesive resemble the brand. I used elements from the box set, such as the printmaking texture, feather print, and monotone pallet to create the retail space.

1Q84 Stage Design

Scenic Design, Design for a Theatrical Production
Class Project, 2024

-
“1Q84” is a dystopian novel written by Haruki Murakami with themes of magical realism and romance. Because of the magical nature, I wanted the design to have a minimal and abstract approach. The designs would still communicate and provide an area where the story comes to life.
To create a basis for the design, I set a back panel for each individual scene that would be placed behind each scene and serve as a background. Each panel would have its own typographic design that would defy the emotion of the scene but still have a visual connection to the story and the production. I wanted to capture the ambiance of each scene that would reflect the nature of that particular moment in the story. The three scenes would be split into their own designs but still have a cohesive connection to each other. The scenes are split by primary colors because they are essential moments in the story, but are set in a hue that mesh well together.
