Bloom

Album Lyric Book
Personal Project, 2024
8.5 x 5.5
-
“Bloom” is a lyric book based on the album “Bloom” by indie music group, Beach House. By breaking the grid, the lyric book goes beyond the lines and combines visualization and literacy. The typographic expirimentation is a reflection of the Beach House’s sonic nature and dives deeper into the intrinsic meaning of their songs. Along with the typography, the images are found archived pieces that influenced the identity of the book.

All in an Instant
 Instant Photography Zine
Personal Project, 2024

8.5 x 11

-
“All in an Instant” is a instant photography zine that features my personal collection of instant film that I’ve collected over the years. Along with photographs, I also wrote pieces about instant photography that included its history as well as my experience working with different film packs. When creating the zine, I didn’t want it to appear like a scrapbook but more of a photography coffee table book. “All in an Instant” is a personal piece becuase it really shows who I am as a person and displays my background.

Trial and ErrorProcess Book Zine
Personal Project, 2022

8.5 x 11

-
“Trial and Error” is a process book zine that reflects my process of creating and how I approach creative projects. As an artist, one thing that I would never get over is my strive for perfection. When I tackle new projects, I have different methods that influence the way that I dive into a new projects. I wanted the design of the book to be experimental and abstract but still have cohesion that’s easily represented to viewers. With each title of every new section, I wanted the typography to not only represent the word but also what that phrase looks like in terms of my creative development.

California Strawberry FestivalPoster + Email Newsletter
Class Project, 2021

24 x 36

-
The California Strawberry Festival poster I wanted to create a poster that was minimal in illustration but still had a focal point. I thought about the phrase “the meat of the matter” and decided to do a spin on a turkey roast and replace it with a strawberry. I chose pink and blue as the main colors to keep things saturated but still have a contrast to distinguish the visuals. I also added directive features, such as the legs of the table and the stem of the fork, to move the eye towards the text and not keep the poster still. Part of the project was to create a newsletter, and I kept things tied to the poster by keeping the focal visuals and adding more text and elements that are cohesive to the poster.

Navigation Senior ShowDirectional Posters + Email Newsletter
Exhibition, 2024

24 x 36

-
As part of the installation piece of the Navigation Exhibiton, we provided a guest activity where attendees can create their own fortune teller by using our curated template and following the directions on the posters. Because of how complex it may be to create a fortune teller, I wanted to condense the steps and make them easy to follow. Using guided languge and directive visuals, guests were able to follow along and create their own fortune teller.
Along with designing posters, I was also the marketing lead and was tasked to design and deliver our email newletter to our list of 1,500 subscribers. Using Figma, I designed the email newletter following the exhibition identity and transferred the design onto Mailchimp to orchestrate the delivery to attendees.
